How do you learn magic in Final Fantasy V?
Hi, I'm playing FFV: Advance (an emulator on my computer), and the white and black mages are learning abilities (White Magic LV1, White Magic LV2, etc.). They aren't learned spells, though. Is there something I'm missing? Do you have to purchase spells or something? (I'm in the Ghost ship part of the game)

For most Black, White, and Time Magic, you must purchase spells. You should find some to buy in the next town, which you will come across soon. You only have to purchase the spell once. Every character will then be able to use the spell as long as they have the right ability. The reason for levels is that you can only cast spells up to the level that you have learned. Therefore, if you purchase a level 3 Black Magic spell, you will not be able to cast it until you learn the Black Magic LV3 ability.
